Pet of the week: Berkeley is ‘really a playful dog’

This week volunteers at Adopt A Dog have selected Berkeley as the program’s adoptable pet of the week. They describe him as follows:

“Berkeley boy came to us all the way from California, and he seems to like being in the great Northwest! Berkeley may look all serious and stuff, but he’s really a playful dog – like one of those dogs who will attack fallen leaves just because! They are way more fun than you’d expect and plus, he feels like he’s helping with clean-up, but he’s not really!

“Berkeley is about 2 years old, 10 pounds, and can be shy at first, but he sure loves walks and cuddle time. And kisses. He’s a kissy-kind of pup! And he’s so silly when you try to get him… he’ll crawl along and wiggle that tail, and be all smiley and just out of reach, but you know he’s messin’ with ya because if you walk away, he runs right back to you and rolls over for a belly rub! Berkeley also gets along great with other dogs, thinks kids are awesome, and car rides are da-bomb! He prefers a window seat, but just being in the car is fine, too!

“Berkeley is current on shots, microchipped and neutered. The adoption fee for Berkeley is $185. The fee to adopt is charged to recoup standard veterinary expenses. Since many of our dogs are in foster, please call ahead to meet Berkeley in Odell at the Hukari Animal Shelter, 3910 Heron Dr., Hood River, or call for more information at 541-354-1083. Adoption hours are Wed., 5-7 p.m. and Sat. 9-11 a.m. You can fill out an application online at our website:, or download and scan and email to us at, or fax it in to 1-877-833-7166. We offer 24PetWatch microchips, which include free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. For more information visit or call 1-866-597-2424.”
