Keith Whigham (third from left, in back) of Life Rocks hosts Big Brothers Big Sisters for another year of climbing, bouncing, and flying high.
As of Friday, July 31, 2015
Life Rocks Climbing Center on the Heights in Hood River hosted a fun activity for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Columbia Gorge on July 21. Owner Keith Whigham, who is also a Big Brother, donated the use of the climbing center, along with lots of water balloons. About 16 Bigs and Littles from Hood River, Klickitat, and Wasco counties attended the event.
This year, Whigham added a slip and slide feature to the climbing center. The addition was a big hit, with Bigs and Littles taking turns cascading down the slide on inner tubes.
Caicye, who’s been matched with a Big Brother since December, could only flip half-way around at the start of the event. But after getting some pointers from fellow Little Bella, he mastered a full back flip on the bungee trampoline.
Big Brothers Big Sisters, a program of The Next Door, provides children ages 6 to 14 with one-to-one mentoring relationships with adult volunteers.
