The Dalles Moose Lodge hosted Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Columbia Gorge (BBBS) for their annual Christmas Breakfast. This was the 10th year for the event.

Approximately 45 Little Brothers and Little Sisters, together with their Bigs, were in attendance on Dec. 12. They enjoyed pancakes, listened to Christmas music, and Santa even made an appearance.

“The generous folks at the Moose Lodge purchased each Little a gift, picked out just for them,” said Kateel Muhs, Wasco County match coordinator.

“Little Brother John and his Big Brother Bill have been coming to the Christmas Breakfast for the last couple years, and they always enjoy themselves,” she said. “After receiving his gift from Santa, John made his way back to his seat to unwrap it. His eyes lit up when he saw that he got just what he wished for: a great pair of winter boots and a fishing pole!”

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Columbia Gorge, a program of The Next Door, matches adult volunteers with youth who would benefit from friendship, support, and guidance. Youth in the program come from every community in Hood River, Klickitat, and Wasco Counties. Many are from single-parent homes and are between the ages of 6 and 14.
