Amy Moreland has been selected as the next principal of Cascade Locks Elementary School beginning in the 2015-16 school year. Her selection was approved by the School Board at its May 27 meeting. Moreland will be replacing Kim Vogel who is retiring at the end of the school year.
Along with serving as principal, Moreland will also be a part-time reading teacher at Cascade Locks.
A screening committee and interview committee made up of parents, teachers, classified staff and administrators participated in a rigorous and thorough selection process which resulted in a unanimous decision to offer the position to Moreland. “Amy is a committed, smart, focused educator who is extremely knowledgeable about students and instruction. As one of our committee members stated, she is a great fit for Cascade Locks,” said Superintendent Dan Goldman.
Moreland received her Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Northridge and her Masters in Education from Concordia University. Amy currently works at Charles F. Tigard Elementary School as the Literacy Specialist and Title I Coordinator, where she has served for the past 8 years. Over the past few years, she also served as the Title I Grant Coordinator for the Durham Education Center, (grades 8-12) in the Tigard-Tualatin School District.
Prior to moving to Oregon she was a elementary classroom teacher for 10 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
“Amy is truly excited to join the Cascade Locks Elementary School community and bring her passion and dedication to student achievement and continue the tradition of excellence at Cascade Locks,” Goldman said.
