CAST will hold summer musical auditions April 1-2

CAST Theater announces auditions for the upcoming summer musical “Next to Normal” on April 1-2, at 7 p.m., in the HRVHS Music Room, with director Mark Steighner.

There are six roles to be cast for this show: Diana; Dan, Diana’s husband; Dr. Madden, Diane’s psychiatrist; Gabe, Diana & Dan’s son; Natalie, their daughter; and Henry, Natalie’s classmate. For more information, contact Mark Steighner at

CAST Theatre and Columbia Center for the Arts will present the summer musical in July 2015. “Next To Normal,” with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt, explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness. Dad’s an architect; Mom rushes to pack lunches and pour cereal; their daughter and son are bright, wise-cracking teens, appearing to be a typical American family. And yet their lives are anything but normal, because the mother has been battling bipolar disorder for 16 years.

“Next To Normal” takes audiences into the minds and hearts of each character, with much more humor that one might expect, according to Steighner.
