Did you mail a package in Hood River May 20? A USPS crash may affect delivery

A serious traffic accident occurred in Portland late Wednesday night involving a tractor-trailer operated by a contractor for the U.S. Postal Service and a private vehicle.

About 1,500 packages were inside the trailer, and the vast majority were severely damaged or destroyed.

The Postal Service is retrieving all items and will notify any senders whose addresses are identifiable with instructions on how to file a claim for any loss that may have resulted in this incident. However, many packages no longer have identifiable addresses.

Packages mailed from the Hood River Post Office on May 20 may have been transported in this shipment.

Contact the Postal Service’s Marketing Department at 503-294-2305, between 8-5 p.m. Info is also available at the Postal Service’s website: www.usps.com/help/claims.htm.
