Harmony of the Gorge invites women to sing for the holidays

Oct. 6 is the kickoff night for Christmas Chorus with Harmony of the Gorge, a local chapter of Sweet Adeline’s International.

“We call our guest nights ‘Girls Night Out’ because we offer women a chance to get out of the routine and enjoy singing with others,” said Pennie Burns, membership team leader.

The event will include goodies and a chance to meet the ladies of the chorus. Harmony of the Gorge represents nearly every community from Skamania and Stevenson to Klickitat, Hood River, The Dalles and Parkdale.

No long-term commitments are involved and no financial commitment is necessary, Burns added. Voice lessons are part of every rehearsal, so women learn more about the skill of singing in harmony with others.

“It’s our favorite time of year, and we invite women of all ages to come and sing with us, as we sing for various special holiday celebrations,” said Burns. “Rehearsals begin this month to prepare for the joy of bringing holiday music to people throughout the Gorge in December.

“Do something fun and different!” said Burns. “And if you have been a part of our chorus in the past, we extend a special invitation to you to return for the holidays.”
