Horizon Christian School has announced that it has elected Pastor Bruce Parker to the Board of Trustees, effective Oct. 7, 2015. In addition to his duties, Parker will become part of the church relations committee of the Board.
Parker is the pastor of Faith Bible Church in Hood River, where he has ministered for the past nine years. He also serves as the chaplain for Horizon Christian School, working with faculty, staff and parents to maintain the Christian mission and biblical distinctives of the school.
Parker is a 1976 graduate of Emerson College in Boston, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in communications, and in 1989 he received his Master’s in ministry from The Masters Seminary in Sun Valley, Calif.
Parker also worked in the business world before serving in Christian ministry full-time. He was President of Mobiltape Company, located in Valencia, Calif., providing products to the business world for more than 20 years. He has also pastored churches in upstate New York and the Sacramento area.
“I wholeheartedly believe and support the mission and vision of Horizon Christian School,” said Parker.
“I am grateful for the privilege of bringing my own Christian witness, work experiences, and ministry opportunities to help serve and support the kids and their families as a board trustee.”
Don Hoffman, Horizon Board Chair said, “Pastor Bruce has a clear understanding of our mission and vision, and we know he will work to insure that the spiritual, academic, and social aspects of Horizon Christian continue to be honoring to God.”
Parker is also active in the local community as a sports official and partners with other local evangelical pastors and ministries in the Columbia Gorge. He enjoys a round of golf, camping in the Northwest, and spending quality time with his wife, Sandy. They have six children and 15 grandchildren.
