Nov. 11 is Veterans Day. On Nov. 8, the second Sunday in November, Tucker Road Baptist Church will be honoring those who have served and those who are now serving this country in each branch of the military — Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and the Coast Guard — with a Veterans Day Celebration Service.
“We want to acknowledge the tremendous sacrifice men and women have made by making the ultimate sacrifice, the laying down of their life, so that we may live in freedom,” reads a press release. “We want to honor veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for our great nation.
“If you are a veteran, the family member of a veteran, a friend of a veteran, or would like to celebrate with us the tremendous pride we all have for our veterans, please plan on attending our Veterans Celebration Service, which will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8. God bless our veterans, and God bless the United States of America.”
‘Bountiful Blessings’ free community concert at Riverside
Riverside Community Church, 4th and State streets, Hood River, hosts the “Bountiful Blessings,” a free community concert Nov. 14 at 7 p.m., featuring Tim Mayer and his band, Diana Beterbide, Susan Ticknor, the Gorge Celtic band Barley Draught, the Sweet Adelines vocal ensemble, the Riverside Chancel Choir and Gospel Ensemble. For more information contact the church office at 541-386-1412.
In addition, community members are invited to purchase a ticket for a pre-concert three-course dinner prepared by Chef Kathy Watson with wines from Mt. Hood Winery. Watson has created a menu of roasted fall vegetable salad with pancetta vinaigrette, to be followed by roast chicken Provençal with lemons and capers, and handmade pasta, and a dessert of flourless chocolate cake, cinnamon poached pears, and Chantilly cream.
Tickets for the dinner are $60 per person and include reserved seating for the Bountiful Blessings concert to follow immediately after dinner. Dinner reservations are limited to 60 people.
“We are filled with gratitude for the diverse gifts of music and the bounty of goodness in our community, and invite others to join in this time of celebration,” said Rev. Vicky Stifter.
For dinner reservations, contact the church office at 541-386-1412 or email@example.com, or Gean Rains at 541-806-0900 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Donations from the concert and proceeds from the dinner will be used to support the community service projects of Riverside Church, including the free Thanksgiving Community Dinner that will be hosted at the church on Thanksgiving Day.
