'Community Conversation on Marijuana' Sept. 10 at Mid Valley

A “Community Conversation on Marijuana” is scheduled at Mid Valley Elementary School cafeteria on Sept. 10 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Scheduled is a panel including law enforcement, the school superintendent, cities and county administration, planning, medical marijuana dispensary, juvenile department, district attorney, addictions and treatment, and the medical profession.

“There will be time for questions and answers along with discussion on what we as a community can do insure the safety for our youth,” said Belinda Ballah, Director, Hood River County Prevention Department, who is organizing the event.

The Prevention Department, headquartered at Hood River County Courthouse, conducts a variety of ongoing education and outreach efforts in the community regarding the use, particularly among youth, of tobacco, alcohol, marijuana and other drugs.

“This event is not the forum to discuss the pros and cons of marijuana legalization,” noted Ballah.
