Entertainment Update for Aug. 3

Free evening of Latino Theater, music, dance Aug. 27 at CCA

Un Día de Teatro is a culturally-rich evening of Latin dance, music, and live theater coming to the Columbia Center for the Arts on August 27 and hosted by Angel Reyes, Jr. The night includes a performance by local youth dancers Las Palomitas, a staged reading inspired by “The Book of Unknown Americans,” performed by the award-winning Milagro Theatre, music and singing by guitarist Arturo Leyva, and flamenco dancing from Experience Flamenco.

The event is free with a reserved ticket and is sponsored by Dr. Richard and Pat Schmuck and the Martha Staley Marks Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation. John Bunzow at White Buffalo

Viento celebrates 30 years

Viento Winery, 301 Country Club, hosts its 30th anniversary party Aug. 6 from 2-7 p.m., with pouring of two new releases including Cuvee Diamante, and music. Admission is $25 for glass of Diamante and a flight of six wines.

New at The Remains

Take the steps down from the street at 500 Industrial Way Friday for the opening of The Remains Gallery’s second anniversary multi-artist exhibit. “The Big Deuce” opens at 6 p.m. with music by Wake of Dark; food and beer will be available. The show will be in place through August. Artists featured are Cat Powell, Caitlynn Abdow, Brendon Hall, Edmond Booth, Matt Schlosky, Alea Bone, Vance Feldman, Scott Kraynak, Willie Neikirk, Christal Rothrock, Kim Lindemyer, Ali Schlicting, Leah Hugon, Carrie Sidwell, Melissa Chavez, and Leigha Andrews, along with owners Nik Vik and Nate Chavez.
