Mt. Hood Meadows hosts Geocache Dash Aug. 13

Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort will hold its first-ever Geocache Dash Aug. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Geocaching is a modern-day navigation experience where GPS coordinates and an electronic device are used to find hidden locations. There are geocache apps available that do not require a cell signal for GPS to work. The Geocache Dash will combine a traditional mountain-style trail race with the strategy and navigation skills of geocaching. Some caches even require completing a puzzle in order to find or open the cache. There will be unique stamps at each location that teams will use to track their progress and score points. Caches will be placed at varying distances from the base area. The further from the base, the more points will be awarded for finding that cache. Competitors will either need a geocache app on their smart phone (and possibly cell coverage on Mount Hood) or a handheld GPS device. For more info and to register go to skihood.com/the-mountain/summer/events/geocache-dash.
