On Aug. 3, Hood River County School District Superintendent Dan Goldman announced that Don Benefield has been appointed as the new operations director. Benefield was formally presented to the Hood River County School Board for approval on Aug. 10.
Benefield currently serves as the school district transportation director. In his new role, he will oversee both the transportation and facilities departments and lead efforts to reorganize critical operations programs to best serve the district’s students and staff members.
A selection committee comprised of maintenance personnel, principals, district administrators and community members was ultimately impressed with Benefield’s history of fostering positive relationships, his strong technical expertise, and his record of bringing complicated projects to successful conclusions.
“Don is a collaborator and a proven leader in our school district,” said Goldman. “We are excited that he will be leading our operations programs as we begin addressing critical infrastructure improvements related to the capital construction bond.”
Benefield, a Hood River Valley High School graduate, has worked for the District since 2011 and became the Transportation Director in April 2015.
