Knights of Columbus hoop shoot Dec. 30

Attention hoop shooters, ages 9-14, boys and girls: On Friday, Dec. 30, come to Westside School gym between 11:30 a.m. to noon for the local Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest. This runs during the final day of the Holiday Hoops Camp organized by Cody Kunigel and Hood River Community Education. Hoop shoot entry is free, a parent signature is required, and winners in each of the 14 divisions receive trophies. This is open to all Hood River County and White Salmon area youth. It is not necessary to attend the camp to participate in the free throw contest. For questions, call Frank Wall at 541-354-1505.

Sports canceled again due to weather

For the second week in a row, winter weather has disrupted sports at Hood River Valley High School. A varsity wrestling match scheduled to take place in Irrigon Wednesday afternoon was canceled, as was a girls wrestling match against Washougal that was supposed to take place Wednesday evening in Hood River. While HRVHS opened after a two-hour delay Thursday, higher snowfall totals shuttered Ridgeview High School, preventing the HRV girls basketball team from traveling to an evening game with the Ravens that had been scheduled for that night. The HRV boys basketball team was also supposed to host Ridgeview Friday night, but that was canceled as well. However, there will now be a game with Columbia High School Wednesday: girls varsity is at 5:15 p.m.; boys varsity is at 7.
