A large crowd gathered at the Columbia Gorge Hotel to thank Dottie Gilbertson for her service to the History Museum of Hood River County.

Friends and associates gathered last week to thank Dottie Gilbertson, at right, for her years of service to the History Museum of Hood River County, as she steps down from the Hood River Heritage Council.

About 40 people gathered at Columbia Gorge Hotel Thursday to honor Gilbertson, a long-time volunteer and leading force in many of the museum outreach and education programs.

They included her daughter, Nicole, a Hood River County resident. Volunteers pooled $2,000 and donated it to the museum endowment fund held by Columbia Gorge Community Foundation.

Heidi Ochsner, representing County Administrator Dave Meriwether, presented Gilbertson with a certificate of appreciation during the luncheon.

Mayor Paul Blackburn, local historian Maija Yasui, and former museum director Connie Nice were also present. Gilbertson, past chair, has retired from the Heritage Council but will continue her contributions at the museum, including the annual Cemetery Tales program.
