Robotics teams take top awards

Three Hood River Valley High School robotics teams excelled at the First Technology Challenge (FTC) Superqualifer meet Feb. 13-14.

The 23 Hood River participants will advance to the FTC State Tournament at Benson Tech High School in Portland on Feb. 27.

The Inspire Award went to Men In Green on Saturday and SteelHeads Sunday. The award is one of FTC’s highest ones, because judges look not only at robot design but also the teams’ outreach efforts, business plan, and fundraising efforts.

Meanwhile, the Occam’s Razor team won the Alliance Captain award, for the most number of wins out of the total of nine heats between preliminaries and finals.
