Griffin House (the artist) plays Griffin House (the venue)
There are two opportunities to experience an up close and personal house concert with acclaimed singer-songwriter Griffin House for two Valentine's weekend shows on Feb. 13 and 14. Born and raised in Ohio, Griffin House opted to decline a golf scholarship to college in lieu of pursuing his musical gifts. His songwriting is spiked with doses of roots, rock, blues and country - all inspired by the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Woody Guthrie, Wilco and Billy Bragg. House has released the majority of his records on his imprint label, Evening Records.

New book club at HR Museum
The History Museum of Hood River County has a new book club called Just My Type. Book club participants will explore the world of objects, such as art, photography, fashion, books, decorative arts and artifacts, as captured in works of fiction and non-fiction.
The club’s first read will be “The Lady in Gold: The Extraordinary Tale of Gustav Klimt’s Masterpiece, Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer” by Anne-Marie O’Connor, and will meet Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m., with light refreshments served at 5:30. The museum is located at 300 E. Marina Drive in Hood River.
There will be no charge for those who “come with ideas.”
“The Lady in Gold” has been described as “one of the most emblematic portraits of its time.” Follow the celebrated beauty from the artist’s easel to stylish drawing rooms, to the list of World War II Nazi confiscations, to the courtrooms of 21st Century America.
