Tour mill and logging sites July 16

Join managers of the Mt. Hood Forest Products Mill, U.S. Forest Service and Hood River County Forestry Department for a behind-the-scenes look at our local forestry industry, from planting to processing. Over 70 percent of Hood River County is forest land and the health and management of these forests can have big impacts on local landscapes. As part of the Hood River Watershed Group’s Field Series, this tour will explore timber stand management, harvest, and milling. It will also look at how local forest lands are managed in combination with recreation, habitat, water quality protection, and much more.

This tour will be held on Saturday, July 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Space is limited; register through Hood River Community Education at www.hoodriver.k12.or.us/communityed or 541-386-2055.

For more information, contact Megan with the Hood River Watershed Group at megan@hoodriverswcd.org or 541-386-6063.
