The band promises to “pay attention to the intricacies of the magic, explore the far ends of the innovation, strive for ever-growing ability, and let the purity of the love for (Led Zeppelin’s) music drive it all.”

Market welcomes cookbook author Carver July 30

Hood River Farmers Market will host Chrystal Carver, author of “Sweet & Simple Gluten-Free Baking: Irresistible Classics in 10 Ingredients or Less,” and recipe developer and writer behind glutenfreeplate.com.

“Sweet & Simple Gluten-Free Baking” delivers recipes that serve up traditional desserts and sweets by providing the same flavors and textures as their gluten-containing equivalents. With 10 ingredients or less, all recipes use traditional ingredients, take less time to make, and less than an hour to bake.

Market shoppers can pick up their own copy of the book signed by Carver. The Hood River Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fifth and Columbia, downtown Hood River. Parking is free.

Stevenson Waterfront Music Festival returns Aug. 13

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Aug. 13 from noon to 10 p.m. for the Second Annual Stevenson Waterfront Music Festival with live music, waterfront businesses tours, local food and drinks (craft brewers, distillers, cidery), vendors, fun for all ages, (supervised minors allowed). The event is free. The event spans the Stevenson waterfront from Clark and Lewie's Restaurant, to Skunk Brothers Spirits Distillery & Tasting Room, to Jester and Judge Cider Co. Live music will take place concurrently at two locations: Main Stage at Clark & Lewie’s Restaurant: Foreign Talks (Indie Reggae — Portland); Purple Spider Webs (local punk rock); Me & My Friends (local southern rock); Dryland Farmers (local-plus-Portland Americana honkygrass); Big River Band (local rock and roll); Jake Ray and the Cowdogs (Portland western country); and at Skunk Brothers Distillery Lounge: Woody on the flute, Recollection Road, Emily Albaugh, Lynn Agar, Johanna Grammon, Jay Russo, Bill Shelton, Dodds, and The Jokers. The event is dog friendly outside of the fenced area; no coolers in fenced area.

Harry Potter book release

This weekend, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” will be released. Because interest is strong, Klindt’s Booksellers has planned a midnight release party Saturday, July 30, to celebrate all things Harry Potter. Dress up as your favorite character from the Wizarding World. Doors open at 10:30 p.m and there will have games and refreshments until 12:01 a.m., when the book will released and you’re sent home to read all night!
