The Packer Orchards Farm Place in Pine Grove will open Friday, June 10, welcoming all visitors to an updated place of family fun. The Farm Place (formerly Rasmussen Farm) was purchased last year by the Packer family, long-time Gorge residents and farmers, and owners of Packer Orchards and Bakery, just a few miles away on Highway 35.
Located at 3020 Thomsen Rd., along the Hood River Fruit Loop, the farm was established in 1945 as a dairy cattle farm, and transformed over the years to be family friendly destination and visitor stop in the Gorge.
Packer Orchards will honor the long-time traditions of the farm, including corn mazes, u-pick berries, a pumpkin patch in the fall, flowers, and lots of family fun.
In addition, they will add some touches of their own by offering all the Packer Bakery favorites such as fresh fruit pies, empanadas, jams and jellies, canned fruits and vegetables, and lots of fresh fruit.
For the Grand Opening on Saturday, June 11, the Packer Orchards & Farm Place will open at 9 a.m. From noon to 2 p.m. the Packers will serve free barbeque. Willy & Nelson will provide music, with other activities continuing until 5 p.m.
The Farm Place has additional parking (including handicap parking), family picnic areas, yard games, and plenty of room for visitors to stay and play.
The Farm Place will be open daily from June 10-Sept. 30, then daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in October, and then in November Wednesday-Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. until Thanksgiving. Packer Orchards & Bakery is now open daily 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Find more details and the online store at packerorchardsandbakery.com.
