‘Time Travels’ music performance June 12

Take an epic journey with “Time Travels Through the American West,” Sunday, June 12, 2 p.m. at Columbia Gorge Discovery Center in The Dalles. This live concert documentary performance, with singer songwriter Christina Martin and cowboy poet Butch Martin, explores both the tragic and triumphant legacy of the American West through rare film, historic photos and music. VENUE CHANGE: Concert, book signing at Mosier School June 12

Jim and Shirley O'Brien of Tucson, Ariz., are presenting a Cherry Harvest Concert and book signing on Sunday, June 12, at 3 p.m. at Mid-Columbia Senior Center, 1112 W. 9th St., . The community is invited to this free event. Desserts will be gratefully accepted but not required. Please RSVP by June 6 to Caroline O'Brien Homer at 541-296-2967 or homerc6@charter.net. The venue is handicapped accessible. (Mosier School is closed due to recent train derailment).

The O'Briens, retired University of Arizona professors, have sung in English and German, accompanying themselves on their Roland digital accordions. You'll hear jazz, mariachi, Latin, country western, swing, rock and roll, polkas, waltzes and schottisches. Jim's autobiography, "Somewhere the Train Goes: A Life Journey,” describes his early years growing up in the 1940s and ‘50s, later teaching in Mosier. There will be book sales, signed, with proceeds going to the Mosier School.

Kristen Graves plays June 12

This summer, the UCC churches of the Gorge are offering a public summer folk concert series. The first is coming up Sunday, June 12.

Connecticut folk sing-songwriter and activist Kristen Graves will be in concert at Paul Blackburn and Kristen Dillon's house (401 Montello, Hood River) at 8 p.m., with doors at 7:30 p.m. Seating is limited, so please RSVP ahead of time to rcc@gorge.net or arrive a bit early.

“Kristen Graves is a folk/pop singer, songwriter and humanitarian. Mentioned by both Rolling Stone and the New York Times, and given her own day across the state of Connecticut by Governor Malloy for her musicianship and activism, she has shared stages with Pete Seeger, Peter Yarrow, Rusted Root, Holly Near, Dar Williams, Guy Davis, Dan Zanes, David Amram and many more.” Her latest album "Now Ain’t the Time for Tears" is available on iTunes.

August 14: Mindy Dillard in a house concert at the Cook residence (1001 3rd St, Hood River) sponsored by Bethel and Riverside. 7 p.m. Dillard will also be playing in Bethel-Riverside joint outdoor worship that morning!

Terry Robb returns to Lyle Hotel

Chic Preston Trio at Pines
