Lavender DAZE July 2-3

The 12th Oregon Lavender DAZE Festival returns July 2-3. Make plans for the annual event that features free admission, live music, food and wine vendors, craft classes, U-pick lavender, and kid's activities.

HR County Fair July 27-30

Summer has officially arrived, and that means that the Hood River County Fair presented by Griffith Motors is fast approaching! The 2016 fair takes place Wednesday through Saturday, July 27-30, at the park-like Hood River County Fairgrounds. A fun and traditional county fair, it's been called the "best in Oregon," and serves up all kinds of displays and exhibits, activities for kids and adults, animals, carnival rides and a midway, tasty food, and great entertainment for all ages, including fair headliner Tracy Lawrence, one of the most recognizable voices in country music.

Bram Brata’ Steel Band at Mt. Hood Winery July 9

Bring your family and friends for a special evening outdoors with the delightful Tri-Cites Bram Brata’ Steel Band at Mt. Blueprint at Underground Music Station July 1

“Blueprint (aka Printmatic), is an emcee/producer from the city of Columbus, Ohio, who began his career with the release of a couple unassuming cassette tapes in 1999. The success of those tapes led to national and international distribution of their releases. Blueprint is currently on The Vigilante Genesis Tour, in support of the new EP produced by Aesop Rock.”

The Receiver, more at Trillium

Synth/atmospheric rock duo The Receiver will be performing in Hood River, Monday June 27, at Trillium Café starting at 9 p.m. No cover charge. Comprised of brothers Casey and Jesse Cooper, the band kicked off a 115-plus date self-booked tour across the country. Previously featured on MTV2’s program “On the Rise,” this is the Ohio natives’ first proper tour in support of their latest record release “All Burn,” on the label Kscope.

Hailing from the high desert of Utah, psychedelic rockers Crook & The Bluff are embarking on a tour through the Pacific Northwest. Their powerful stage presence can be witnessed in Hood River on Sunday, July 24, at Trillium Cafe.

Radio Tierra hosts second annual ‘Mayors’ Independence Celebration’ July 3

Come and help Radio Tierra and the mayors of Bingen, White Salmon and Hood River celebrate our country’s diverse talents and patriotism at a live broadcast of the Mayors’ Independence Eve Celebration, Sunday, July 3, 7-9 p.m. at the Bingen Theater, 210 Oak St. in Bingen. As a special feature of this year’s party, we will honor the memory of Gorge native and 2016 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, Min Yasui.

Radio Tierra’s live broadcast will include the music of Mariachi Los Temerosos De Juan Antonio, Maren Euwer, Weiler & Tindall, Tim Mayer and the Riverside Gospel Choir, Midnight Gypsy, Harmony of the Gorge, Antifaz and Paul Blackburn; readings of poetry by Robert Service, Langston Hughes, Woody Guthrie, and original poetry readings by White Salmon fourth graders; tongue twister contest with Kirby Neumann-Rea; and a special appearance by Sam Hill.

The Dalles Summer Celebration concert, events start July 3

The Dalles Summer Celebration will be a series of events organizers said are dedicated to bringing the community together to celebrate summer fun in The Dalles.

The “Summer Celebration” begins with the “Fort Dalles Forth Kickoff Concert,” Sunday, July 3 at Lewis and Clark Park Festival Park in The Dalles. Gorge Country Y-102 presents one of country music’s rising stars, Dallas Smith. Opening the show will be American Idol’s Britnee Kellogg and Northwest favorites Brewer’s Grade. Monday, July 4, will feature Oregon’s Largest Fireworks Display preceded by a full day of free festival activities including a walk/run, community breakfast, yoga, parade, Family Funzone and the Launch Party with more live music, food and fun!
