Art show to ‘transform’ downtown Washougal

Downtown Washougal Refection Plaza will be transformed into a gallery of fine art as the Washougal Arts and Cultural Alliance (WACA) presents the Washougal Art Festival, Saturday, Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We are currently seeking visual artists working in all media to be a part of the event,” said Janice Ferguson, WACA Festival committee chair and Clark County Art commissioner. “We are offering a unique opportunity for artists to display and sell pieces and gain further recognition among the Columbia Gorge community.”

Participants’ work will be judged by a group of local artists to ensure it meets festival standards.

“The festival is intended for professional artists who are actively producing and exhibiting their work to sell,” Ferguson said.

Adding to the festivities, performing arts groups will be on stage throughout the day and a children’s art activity area will be available to awaken budding artists. There is a free outdoor concert that evening starting at 7 p.m. at the Port of Camas Washougal’s Marina Park.

Applications must be submitted via e-mail, and the deadline is April 1.

There is a $25 fee for a 10x10 space. Notification for selected artists is May 1. Please e-mail Ferguson at, for more information or to submit applications. Forms are also available at visit
