Outgoing Hood River Valley Adult Center (HRVAC) Interim Executive Director Suzanne VanOrman was the honored guest at Wednesday’s senior center luncheon.

HRVAC Board Member John Buckley, Vice President Kristi Thomsen, and Secretary Debra Laraway thanked VanOrman for her “hard work and dedicated hours” during the past year. VanOrman expressed gratitude to the center’s “loyal patrons,” and stressed the importance of its Meals on Wheels program — “It should be called ‘Meals for Homebound Seniors,’ because (recipients) can’t go grocery shopping or cook for themselves; they need Meals on Wheels,” she said.

“Suzanne filled in for us and did all the work to get us on track for a new, long-term executive director,” said Laraway. “We’ve had lots of applications and are looking forward to welcoming our new director, and we appreciate Suzanne’s year of hard work.”
