City celebrates retirees

Monday’s City Council meeting saw the ceremonial departure of two of Hood River’s longest-termed employees: wastewater treatment plant operator Doug Nichols, center, and Dave Smock, left, public works foreman.

Monday’s City Council meeting saw the ceremonial departure of two of Hood River’s longest-termed employees: wastewater treatment plant operator Doug Nichols, center, and Dave Smock, left, public works foreman.

Mayor Paul Blackburn presented the pair with plaques.

Smock leaves Monday after 34 years of service, and Nichols’ last day is Friday, after 32 years.
