Little Brothers Kaiydon and Koalbe rock out with their Big Brothers Keith and Max.
As of Friday, March 17, 2017
The Next Door’s annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake event benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Columbia Gorge had another successful year. This year’s event raised over $45,000, enough to provide 35 Gorge kids with the positive, consistent role modeling they need to have brighter futures.
Pizza and sandwiches donated by Beneventi’s Pizza were scarfed up by 250 eager bowlers. Four Hood River Valley Leos teams got creative with their bowling skills, pairs of Bigs and Littles enthusiastically bowled and got silly for the camera, and many Gorge businesses had their “game faces on” to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Columbia Gorge. This year’s event was presented by A Kidz Dental Zone, Hood River Construction, and Northwest GraphicWorks.
Big Brothers Big Sisters relies on funds generated by Bowl for Kids’ Sake to provide children in Hood River, Wasco, and Klickitat counties with one-on-one mentoring relationships with adult volunteer mentors.
Program staff are actively seeking mentors for the 30 Little Brothers and Little Sisters currently on the wait list. For more information about Big Brothers Big Sisters, visit nextdoorinc.org/bbbs or call 541-386-6665.
