Congratulations to the Got Sand team, who won the popular Tuesday Nite Mixed (TNM) league at Orchard Lanes last week. To win, the newly crowned champs won a four-team total pin roll-off against You Can’t See Me, Oh She Hit, and Take Ten.
Got Sand is a powerhouse team carrying a scratch 199 average per game. Nevertheless, the match was very close as Got Sand eked out the win by a razor thin margin of only 11 pins. Their win was paced by smooth Mark Chabotte and power ball specialist Mary Finley. Mark rolled a scratch 644 and Mary had a scratch 639. Also, bowling for the victors was Matt Webber and Bryan Mason.
In other 10-pin league action last week, two new stars emerged. Up and coming youngster Austin Dehart blasted a big-time scratch 254 game in the TNM and he finished up his outing 119 pins over his average, which was the top individual performance of all league bowlers last week. And longtime regular Jim Green also found the range in the Thursday afternoon senior Lads and Lassies League, where he notched a scratch 200 game and completed his stint on the lanes 116 pins over his average.
We nearly had another perfecto last week. Bill Pullum, who has long been one of the top keglers in town, came away just one pin shy in the Wednesday evening Fraternal League. Bill strung the first 11 strikes in his second game of the session, but onlookers report the stubborn kingpin refused to fall on his last toss. Bill already has an impressive resume of award scores and now he can add this 299 game to his long list. Great bowling, everybody!
