A ‘transforming gift’

Hood River Adopt A Dog recently received a gift from long time Hood River resident Bette Johnson through her will, according to the Board of Directors and staff.

“Her love of animals has left a magnificent legacy for Bette and for Adopt A Dog. The sadness is that we didn’t know it was coming and we didn’t get to say ‘thank you.’ A gift like this transforms our organization and our programs. It is truly a wonderful philanthropic expression. Thank you, Bette!” wrote Susan Lannak, Sarah Segal, Julie Cline, Judie Hanel, Judy Dutcher, Chris Espy, Kelly Dennis, Janette Skarda, Jacque Johnston and Lauren Henneford.

Adopt-A-Dog’s annual “Vino and Fido” event at Wy’east Winery near Odell will be June 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities will include a registered bocce tournament bracket at 9 a.m., a doggie costume contest and doggie pond diving. See www.hoodriveradopt-adog.org/about-us.
