This past weekend three athletes from HRV competed in the XC Nike BorderClash event held at the Nike World Campus in Beaverton.

The top cross country athletes from Oregon and Washington are invited to this event to compete in a meet between the two states.

In the girls competition, HRV’s Lottie Bromham, Frances Dickinson and Josephine Dickinson were three of the 36 girls who represented the Oregon team.

Bromham was the highest finisher for the Eagles at this competition, coming in at 51st place out of the 75 total competitors with a time of 19 minutes and 55.85 seconds.

Behind Bromham was Frances, who crossed the finish line at 20:00.35, earning her a 54th place finish.

And because of a medical issue, Josephine was unable to finish the event.

“But all the girls still had a great time and it was an amazing experience,” said HRV XC Head Coach Brandon Bertram. “It was a well-earned privilege for the girls to be a part of the BorderClash competition.”

These girls were recognized as some of the top runners in Oregon, and rightfully so after the seasons each of these athletes had for HRV.

Bromham at the 5A OSAA State competition earlier this month finished in 12th place with a time of 19:26 to help the HRV girls XC team finish in second place. Her 12th place time at the state meet was her season best. Bromham’s 19:27.2 finish at the District Championships, which earned her a third-place finish and helped the Eagles win the league title, was her previous season best.

Frances set a personal best time this year of 19:04.1 at the Gorge Fox XC Classic in early October and followed that performance up with times of 19:20.9 and 19:20 at districts and state. Her time at districts earned her a second-place finish, while at state she cracked a top-10 finish, placing 10th overall.

Josephine also ran a personal best time this year of 19:18.7 at the District Championships. The finish earned her the top-podium finish overall, with Frances and Bromham right next to her in second and third. She then topped it off with a strong performance at state finishing with a time of 19:20 and earning an 11th place finish.

Bromham, Frances and Josephine are currently sophomores at HRV, making it safe to say that the future is bright for at least the next two years at HRV.
