The staff took first place in the air guitar competition last Thursday, with a skit that combined music, dancing, and parodying of HRVHS students. The overriding theme was HRVHS as a safe space for students — ending with a banner reading “We are Family / Somos Familia.”

This year’s air guitar judges were Hood River County School District Board Member Chrissy Reitz and retired HRV teachers Mary Ann Hay and Keith Bassham.

Juniors came in second in this year’s competition with a Sponge Bob Square Pants skit. Above, Kelsey Stewart plays the clarinet in an attempt to thwart Plankton’s efforts to steal the Crabby Patty recipe.

The freshman class came in fourth place with their “The Last Air Bender,” dancing to songs representing water, earth, fire and wind.

Sophomores came in last place this year, but their skit involved students “dancing through the ages,” from the 1970s to the present day. Pictured are students representing the 1980s.
