Acne is complicated.
The American Academy of Dermatology says that acne is the most common skin condition affecting people. And it isn’t surprising. There are number of causes for acne: heredity, food high in refined sugars or carbohydrates, dirt and bacteria, hormones, cosmetics and medication. Even stress can cause acne.
Acne appears as pimples, blackheads or whiteheads. Sometimes, acne can cause scars. Acne can have a negative effect on a person’s self-esteem.
It can also be hard to treat but it can be treated. Sometimes the best approach is a very personalized and comprehensive treatment plan that address the different causes of acne.
Oil, bacteria and dead skin cells can clog pores and cause blackheads, pimples and other blemishes. A good way to remove these is to do a microdermabrasion treatment or a facial peel. Both treatments exfoliate the skin; remove blackheads; reduce excess oil production; remove blemish causing bacteria; and smoothing dull skin to help prevent new breakouts.
To continue the treatment for acne, clients are prescribed a homecare regimen of physician grade skincare products.
Since food is linked to breakouts, an individual may need to adjust their diet – and it is always easier to change eating habits with support. This can be enhanced with specially formulated supplements.
Sometimes we simply need to look at our lifestyle and find ways to reduce stress. A lifestyle management plan can help do that.
Acne can cause scars. Those scars don’t have to be permanent – they can reduced with a microneedling treatment.
