Superintendent Dan Goldman speaks Monday at the groundbreaking ceremony at May Street Elementary, which will be replaced over the next two years. Principal Kelly Beard said the project will respect the school’s history and its role as a community hub. Student council and school board members turned the ceremonial first dirt. The building will stand through 2018-19, but the first stage of new construction begins as this week with turf removal and other grading work on the playfield.
