HRV Nordic fundraiser Saturday

The Hood River Valley High School Nordic Ski Team will hold a silent auction and raffle fundraiser at Kickstand Coffee on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 6-9 p.m. Homemade pies will also be available for purchase, as will food and drinks. The raffle will be for a classic ski package — classic Nordic skis, boots and poles.

Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20, on sale all week at Kickstand and during the event.

Martin Luther King Jr. events Jan. 15

Gorge residents are invited to celebrate the life, work and dreams of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Jan. 15 (a federal holiday) at Riverside Community Church, Fourth and State streets in downtown Hood River.

The theme of this year’s celebration, sponsored by Gorge Ecumenical Ministries and Somos Uno, is “The Dreams of Martin Luther King Jr. Live On: Building a Community with Justice for All.” This year’s event will include a workshop, celebration with music and readings, and potluck; the event is free and all are welcome.

FISH brick fundraiser ends Jan. 15

FISH Food Bank is selling commemorative bricks through Jan. 15. Bricks will line the entryway to the Hood River FISH Food Bank site, and can honor loved ones or special friends, recognize an organization, share an inspirational thought, or show support of FISH. Purchases help support the mission of FISH to supply nutritious food to Hood River County residents in need of help.

Adult Center Mardi Gras tickets on sale

Tickets are on sale for the Hood River Valley Adult Center’s second annual Mardi Gras Fundraiser on Feb. 24. Tickets are

$20 presale, or $25 at the door, and include a New Orleans-style buffet dinner, an assortment of southern desserts, a no host bar, entertainment and a silent auction. Funds raised will go to the Meals on Wheels program. To order tickets, call 541-386-2060. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

HRVAC is also looking for volunteers to help with the evening’s silent auction. Call the above number for more information.
