Hood River hiker injured at Middle Falls Trail

On May 8 at approximately 2:38 p.m., the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an injured hiker near the overlook at Middle Falls Trail, off the USFS 90 road, approximately 37 miles east of Cougar, Wash. The initial report was the hiker fell off the trail and was unresponsive.

Stafford hired as HR port waterfront, marina manager

Daryl Stafford joined Port of Hood River staff on April 23 as the new waterfront and marina manager, replacing Steve Carlson. Stafford is a longtime Gorge sailing and water-sport enthusiast, entrepreneur, and administrative professional known in the sailing and surfing communities served by the port, said a press release.

The Oregon Health Authority has released the “AmeriTies-West Letter Health Consultation” report, which concluded exposure to outdoor air pollutants near the facility in The Dalles did not pose chronic public health risks for people in the area.

Turnout is at 23.5 percent as of Friday morning in the May 15 Primary Election. That’s 3,341 ballots out of the 14,207 issued. The deadline is 8 p.m. on May 15 to submit ballots in the wide-ranging Primary Election.

Girls LAX closes out league with back-to-back wins

After five-straight wins to open conference play, the HRV girls lacrosse team came into this week’s competition with a chance to suffer back-to-back losses for the first time in league this season, after falling at home to Lincoln by a final score of 8-4 on May 3.
