Education Foundation grants more than $34,000 to teachers

Hood River County Education Foundation (HRCEF) set a new record for sending funds into classrooms in the Hood River County School District with the 2018 Innovative Teaching Grants. Over $34,000 was awarded to 47 educators representing every school in the district.

HRVHS Speech and Debate takes first in tournament

The Hood River Valley High School Speech and Debate team won first place in Team Sweepstakes at the Robert D. Clark Tournament held at the University of Oregon Feb. 17-18. The team took 27 students, who entered 52 events.

Scholarships: Deadline April 13 for HRCEF applications

Hood River County Education Foundation (HRCEF) has announced that April 13 is the application deadline for scholarships for Hood River Valley High School graduates who will be entering their sophomore, junior or senior year in college (or trade school) in the fall of 2018.

FFA hosts annual farmers’ breakfast Saturday

On Saturday, Feb. 24, Hood River Valley FFA will host its 11th annual FFA Farmers’ Breakfast at the HRVHS cafeteria from 7-11 a.m. The country-style breakfast is free, provided by the FFA chapter for the agricultural community and all interested.

‘Introduce a Girl to Engineering’ Feb. 22

A partnership between local libraries, the Gorge Tech Alliance, Wasco County 4-H, and the Columbia Gorge STEM Hub is hosting three “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” events in the Gorge on Thursday, Feb. 22. The events are part of a national movement led by DiscoverE to provide more girls with exposure to engineering fields.
