Obituary: Wanda Mae Powers

Wanda Mae Powers, 87, a resident of The Dalles, Ore., passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011. She was born in Elgin, Ore., on Sept. 9, 1924, the oldest of eight children to George H. and Lahrena (Dale) Yarington.

She is survived by her daughters, Sarafae Winheim and her husband, Jerry, of Crooked River, Ore., and Wanda Barnill and her husband, Clyde, of Rockaway Beach, Ore.; her sister, Lahrena Lunsford, and her husband, Don; three grandsons; two step-grandsons; three step-granddaughters; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. Powers; her parents; brothers Duane, Gail and George; and sisters Vida, Norma and Lois.

Private cremation was held at Win-Quatt Crematory in The Dalles with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Inurnment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery with her husband, Warren. Per her request no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice in her name.
