Peggy Wetherell, currently a resident of Gresham, Ore., died at home Aug. 9, 2009. She was a longtime resident of Parkdale, Ore., where she raised her family.
She was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Pitcher, Okla., and was raised near Joplin, Mo. She married William B. Wetherell on May 7, 1941.
She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and actively supported the organization’s volunteer work. She was an avid bowler for years. She volunteered with Job’s Daughters for many years. She loved gardening and reading.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years and is survived by her three children: son Tom (Lynne), of Troutdale, Ore., daughters Sandy (Jim) Church, of Tacoma, Wash., and Linda (Roy) Hamilton, of Portland, Ore.
Grandchildren are Eric Hofmann, who preceded her in death; Kaaren Hofmann, Melissa (Joshua) Wetherell-Moore, Bill (Amy) Wetherell, Rebecca Wetherell and Jackie (Vanessa) Evans. She had numerous great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Willamette National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Donations may be made in memory of her husband, Bill, to the Alzheimer’s Research or Hospice.
