David E. Larsen peacefully passed away on Jan. 5, 2009, at Aloha Nursing Home in Kaneohe, Hawaii. He was a resident of Hood River, Ore., for five years and went to live with his daughters after his wife of 47 years passed away in December of 2007. He was born April 12, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minn.
David spent most of his career in West Los Angeles where he owned and operated his own advertising agency. He was also a veteran of World War II; a reconnaissance sergeant in the 10th Mountain Division. He was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for his bravery in combat in Italy.
David was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, skiing and dogs. He was a creatively gifted man.
He has left a legacy of creativity in two of his grandchildren, Brennan Novak and Kaila Rataczak. To his other grandchildren, Cameron and Kiki Taylor, he leaves his love of nature and snow skiing.
He is survived by his five children: David S. Larsen, Sandra Joan Larsen, Mary Layne Larsen, Bridgett Schneeberger and Monique Michelle Taylor; and four grandchildren. We all have comfort knowing that he is with his beloved wife again in our loving Father’s care.
There will be a committal service and military honors at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery on Friday, March 20, at 1 p.m. Chaplain Steve Lusk will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson’s Tribute Center (Funerals, Receptions, Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River, OR 97031; 541-386-1000; www.andersonstributecenter.com.
