Phyllis Jean Predmore Zweigart, 82, died March 20, 2009, at her home in Canby, Ore. She was born Sept. 15, 1926, outside of Stapleton, Neb., to Walter and Frances Predmore.
Her family left Nebraska during the drought and Depression, arriving in Hood River, Ore., on her 14th birthday. She began attending the Hood River Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where she met and married Henry “Bill” Zweigart. In August of 2008 Phyllis and Bill celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Phyllis had a deep and personal relationship with Jesus and shared that love with many children throughout her years as a Sunday school teacher, mother and preacher’s wife. She loved her children, talking to each of them nearly every day.
She was known for growing the biggest and best vegetables around; grew beautiful flowers and loved every minute that she got to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She and her husband pastored Christian Missionary Alliance churches in Everett, Wash., Medford, Ore., and Vancouver, Wash. In 1990, they retired and moved to Canby.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Marky King, of Keizer, Ore., Diane Morrow (Bob) of Leeburg, Ore., Linda Jacobson, of Keizer, Ore. and John Zweigart (Jeanette) of Canby; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Wayne Predmore (Janet), of Battle Ground, Wash.; and sister, Benita Hall, of Sacramento, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Walt Predmore, Marjorie Predmore Day and Warren Predmore.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at the Canby Alliance Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Willamette Falls Hospice in care of the Canby Funeral Chapel, 160 S. Grant St., Canby, OR 97013. Interment is at Zion Cemetery in Canby, Ore.
