Jackie Garrett, 78, went home to God on Nov. 9, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hood River, Ore., to John Walter Foster and Josephine Opal Bush Foster on March 18 1931.
Her strong love for her husband, Steve, and her family sustained her through many courageous health battles. She gave all to stay one more day with her family. Her strong Christian faith carried her through all of life’s ups and downs.
Jackie loved to work in her yard and loved going fishing, playing rummy, enjoying a nice cup of hot chocolate and pretty much anything to do with her family.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Steve; daughter Julie Schuld (Jody), of Weston, Ore.; son, Ray Millard (Shiela), of Hood River, Ore.; daughter Jeri Whitecotton (Tim), of Odell, Ore; stepchildren Gina Thomson, of Central Point, Ore., and Steven Garrett, of Butte Falls, Ore.; several loving grandchildren and precious great-grandchildren and her brother, Larry Foster, of Portland, Ore.
Jackie was preceded in death by her mother and father, sisters Elaine Cannon and Joan Haynes, and her brother John Foster.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Arlington family and youth center or Pioneer Hospice in care of Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave., The Dalles. A celebration of life will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Arlington Nazarene Church.
