Doris Irene DeHart passed away in Portland, Ore., on Oct. 21, 2009, at the age of 76. She was born in Oroville, Wash., March 31, 1933, to Josephine (Smith) and John Reeder.
She graduated from Tonasket High School in 1951 and moved to White Salmon, Wash., in the early 1960s. She worked for the local newspaper and also packed fruit at Underwood Fruit.
She relocated to Hood River, Ore., in the early 1970s and worked for the telephone company, starting as an operator but eventually working her way up to more responsible positions. She married LeRoy DeHart in the early 1980s and retired in the mid-1990s.
Doris is survived by her granddaughters Cameo, Suni and Shelicca Davis; sister Bertha Mae Will and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughters, Gloria and Cheryl; her parents; two brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon. There will be a light reception following. Gardner Funeral Home and Columbia River Crematory were in charge of the arrangements.
