Arthur L. Hoff, 80, of Eitzen, Minn., died suddenly Sunday, March 28, 2010, at his home. He was born May 3, 1929, in Centerville, Wis., to Raymond and Irene (Nelson) Hoff.
On Dec. 14, 1947, Arthur married Erna Allen at Mount Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse, Wis. He then served in the United States Coast Guard in the early 1950s.
Arthur and Erna previously resided in the states of Alaska, Oregon and Washington before moving back to this area in 1993. On Nov. 13, 2003, Erna preceded Arthur in death.
Arthur was an avid fisherman. He will be remembered for his generosity and his unexpected sense of humor.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Steve) Shivers, of Black Hawk, S.D.; three grandchildren, Joanna, Matthew and Kayla; two sisters, Beverly (Hamm) Westlie, of Osseo, Wis., and Carol Snuggerud, of Portland, Ore.; one brother, Raymond “Butch” (Joyce) Hoff, of The Dalles, Ore.; and Arthur’s dear companion and friend, Mary Lou Sailor, of Eitzen, Minn., and her family.
In addition to his wife, Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harland and Donald Hoff; and one sister in infancy, Philis Elaine Hoff.
Memorial services will be Saturday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eitzen. Rev. Todd Krueger will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
