Audrey Lucile Porter, 89, of The Dalles, Ore., and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital in Hood River, Ore.
Audrey was born in Grand Rapids, Minn., Jan. 9, 1921, daughter of Elias S. Black and Violet Lucile (Lighthizer) Black. She moved from Grand Rapids to Minneapolis, Minn., to San Jose Calif.; then in 2001 to The Dalles, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil Woodrow Porter; brother Willis Black; sister Mary Lou; and parents, Elias and Violet Black.
Audrey is survived by: two sisters, Betty (Black) Knight and Olivemae (Black) Gebhart; and one brother, Donald Black; two sons, Neil Willis Porter and David Wilb Porter; and two daughters, Audreanna (Porter) Walters and Lori (Porter) Greber.
Grandchildren Debbie (Walters) Boyd, Tim Walters, Kelly (Walters) Drake, Richard Porter and James Porter, Daniel Porter, Skyler Johnson and Dalton Porter, and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.
Audrey worked for the Red Owl in Minnesota and Safeway in San Jose, Calif., and for 35 years served as a caregiver in a private home in San Jose.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at First Baptist of Los Altos, Calif., 625 Magdalena Ave., Los Altos Hills, CA 94024; 650-948-5698. Private family graveside rites will be at Los Gatos Memorial Park.
