Judith “Judy” Ann Lyda
August 26, 1947 - July 15, 2010
Judith “Judy” Ann Lyda passed away July 15, 2010, at her home in The Dalles, Ore.
A graveside service will be held July 27 at 2 p.m. at the Pine Grove Butte Cemetery. Services will be led by Judy’s family and friends.
Judy was born and raised here in the Hood River area. She was a great friend to those who had the honor of knowing her. She was a very happy, loving and outgoing lady who loved her life and those she had in it.
She was a very positive, strong individual who had many passions in life. She loved canning, gardening, hunting mushrooms, all animals and most of the entire outdoors!
Judy had many friends from when she worked Walmart, K-Mart and the Hood River Railroad; she was a collector of friends. She loved her dog, “Dee Dee,” and cat, “Corny,” as well as her close friend, Jeannette Cochran, and her family that Judy adopted as her own.
Judy was blessed with the ultimate gift in life: She found her soul mate, the love of her life and her best friend when she met Bobby Ray Roberts. They shared almost 30 years of their lives together.
During that time they were able to share many adventures together. As partners for life they did everything together and enjoyed every second they were able to share.
Some of their most cherished memories included their hunting and fishing trips. They loved camping and floating down the Deschutes River just for the relaxation. They had so much in common that they never ran out of things to do together. They enjoyed each other’s company and never missed the opportunity to make the most out of their time together.
Judy lost her soul mate and best friend on April 16, 2007. She always said that she felt like she had lived the perfect life because she was able to share it with Bob. She had the most beautiful memories anyone could possibly imagine or even ask for. She lived a very full, satisfying life and was always grateful for everyone she had the pleasure of knowing.
She will be forever in our hearts and our memories and missed by all whose lives she touched.
Judy loved her friends and family very much and always talked about how important it is to never take those who love you for granted. She had the biggest, most loving heart of anyone we knew. May she rest in peace with her best friend and soul mate.
Judy was predeceased by her father, Whitman Angus Lyda, in 1968; her mother, Dixie Miller Lyda, in 1995, and her only sibling, Joseph Lloyd Lyda, in 1991. She was also predeceased by her paternal grandparents, William Angus and Leona Whitman Lyda, of Marble Falls, Texas.
Her closest living relatives in Texas are Beverly Farmer Clement, of Pleasanton; William Farmer, of New Braunfels; Darlene Farmer Oostermeyer, of Marble Falls; Jane Lyda Gatwood, of Kemp; Leonard Lyda, of Arkansas; and LaNelle Lyda, of Colorado.
