Douglas James Holt was born in Hood River, Ore., on Oct. 1, 1960, to Jerry and Bonnie Holt. He passed away at his mother’s home on Feb. 28, 2010, at the age of 49.
He attended Hood River schools, and then moved to Alaska in the early 1990s to work in the logging industry.
Living in Alaska gave him the opportunity to do what he loved, which is hunting and fishing and all things outdoors. He also loved to cook and was known for some tasty recipes.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; a daughter, Emily, in Oklahoma; and sons Jarryd and Nick in Hood River; his mother, Bonnie, from Odell; and his brother, Dennis, and nephew, Matt; and three grandsons.
Preceding him in death were his brother Gary and father, Jerry.
In lieu of flowers, Doug’s family would like any donations to go to Hospice of the Gorge or the American Cancer Society and sent in care of Anderson’s.
A service to honor Doug is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at Anderson’s Tribute Center (Funerals, Receptions, Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River, OR 97031; 541-386-1000. A reception at Anderson’s will follow. Please visit www.andersonstributecenter.com to leave a note of condolence for Doug’s family.
