Eleanor was the second-oldest of four children born to Maurice and Irene Godfrey; two brothers, Leslie and Leroy and a sister, Barbara. She grew up in Washington and later moved to Springfield, Ore. She graduated from Springfield High School.
On Oct. 10, 1943, she married Sgt. Albert I. Parrott. They lived in California, Mississippi and Oregon. They were blessed with five children. They had been married for 59 years when Al passed away in 2003.
Eleanor devoted her days to caring for her family. She was a leader for the Scouts and a guardian of Jobs Daughters in Lemoore, Calif. She was a neighborhood mom to many of the children who lived close by. She was a Worthy Matron of the Lily of the Lake Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
In 1979 she retired from working in the Lemoore High School cafeteria and the family moved to Parkdale. Their new home was built on land owned by the family for more than 100 years.
In Parkdale Eleanor became active in the Grange. She loved being an officer and helping run the Harvest and Blossom dinners and other Parkdale Grange activities. She was an excellent pie maker; fruit pies being her specialty. She enjoyed her iris garden and hummingbird watching, and collecting eagle-themed items.
