Jack “Bud” Brittle
February 16, 1936 - April 13, 2011
Jack "Bud" Brittle, 75, went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2011, when he passed away at Providence Medical Center of Portland, Ore. Jack was born Feb. 16, 1936, in Quapaw, Okla.
A service of honor was scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at River of Life Assembly of God Church, 979 Tucker Road, Hood River, with Pastor Terry Abbott officiating and military rites performed by the Oregon Honors Team.
Jack loved and lived life to the fullest. His favorite things to do were golfing - daily, except when it was snowing - and fishing and camping with all of the family. When the children were young he made sure that faith, church and family were an important role in their lives.
Jack served three years in the United States Army. He worked as a fabricator/welder for the Army Corps of Engineers and retired from the Bonneville Dam in 1994.
He was extremely crafty and there wasn't anything he couldn't make or fix. If anyone needed something fixed they would call him and he would gladly work on it. He was also the barber for all the grandsons.
He enjoyed playing Mexican Train dominoes and would always tease and joke with the grandchildren and family.
Jack is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of nearly 52 years, Virginia Brittle, of their Hood River home; son Jeff and his wife, Pam; daughter Kim Swafford and her husband, Aaron; grandchildren Shaiyan, Ciena, Jerimiah, Josh, Kelsie, Kylie, Greg and Steven; brothers Jerry Brittle and his wife, Peggy, and Rex Brittle and his wife, Lois; sister Opal Tracey and her husband, Ronnie, and Pat Blevins.
Memorials are encouraged in Jack's name to the River of Life Assembly of God Church building fund.
