Jewel Marie Davidson passed away Jan. 20, 2011, at her home in Hood River, Ore., with family by her side. She was born Jan. 22, 1934, in Duran, N.M., to James McKnight Carter and Cora Haley (Pugh) Carter.
Jewel moved with her family to Hood River Valley in May 1941 at the age of 7 from Oklahoma. She attended Barrett Elementary School and graduated from Wy'east High School in 1953. She met Harley at the age of 21 when he was 24; they were married 55 years on May 7, 2010.
Jewel retired from Rosauers as a demo salesperson (known as the goody goody lady). Some of her other jobs included Hood River school bus driver and the Blue Angel senior citizen bus driver.
Jewel was a member of the Church of Christ all her life. She loved people and let her Christian light shine to all. A highlight of her life, she looked forward every year to the Pugh family reunion.
With a heart as big as the moon, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver to her family and many others. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Jewel is survived by her husband, Harley (Buster) E. Davidson; daughters Rita McCarl and Vicki Swyers and son Clarke Davidson; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brothers Carl and Cecil Carter and sister Joy O'Brien.
She was preceded in death by her brother Con Carter.
A service to celebrate Jewel's life and mourn her passing is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Anderson's Tribute Center, 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River, OR 97031; 541-386-1000. Viewing is scheduled for Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Anderson's.
