Edgar “Ed” Ulric Chabot

Edgar Ulric Chabot Ed "Babe" Chabot of Sparks, Nev., returned to the Lord on Friday, May 27, 2011, in Portland, Ore., surrounded by his children who loved him greatly.

Ed was born on Nov. 10, 1938, in Nashua, N.H., to Francis and Alma Chabot. He leaves behind his sons, John and his wife, Cecile, of Gladstone, Ore., and Michael and his wife, Traci, of Kennewick, Wash.; and his daughter, Diane Chabot, of The Dalles, Ore.; grandchildren Francesca, Hannah and Janessa Chabot, Jakob Chabot and Robert, Daniel, Kristy and Kayla Moore; and great-granddaughter Julianna.

Also surviving are brothers Roland and his wife, Georgette, of Folsom, Calif., Marcel Chabot, of Woodstock, Ga., Sr. Diane Chabot, of Quebec, Canada, Lionel Chabot and his wife, Gabrielle, of Richmond, Calif., and Claude and his wife, Barbara, of Roseville, Calif., as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ed will forever be in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Teresa Chabot, his granddaughter Misty Ann Henn, his parents, Francis and Alma, and his brother Raymond.

Ed lived in Hood River, Ore., for more than 29 years, working for the Hood River School District, and was most proud of his work for them as a cabinet maker and locksmith. After his retirement, he moved to Sparks, Nev., and was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church, and enjoyed singing in the choir each Sunday (a zipped mp3 collection is to be found at:

Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus throughout his adult life. He had a special love of photography, taking many pictures at our family gatherings. He kept busy with his hobbies, woodworking, antique collecting, the stock market, playing Keno, and especially spending time with his family and friends. Ed was always there when needed!

A celebration of his life memorial and Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1501 Belmont Ave., Hood River, on Friday, June 17, at 1 p.m. In honor of his memory, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 330 S.W. Curry St., Portland, OR 97239.
