Wanita Augusta Nelsen, daughter of Henry and Clara Schade, was born in Springfield, Minn., on July 31, 1914, and died in Gresham, Ore., on June 11, 2011, at the age of 96.
She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church on Aug. 9, 1914, and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, in Springfield, Ore. On April 25, 1934, she was united in holy matrimony with Arno Nelsen.
She moved to Hood River with her husband and family in 1955. In 2002, she and her husband moved to Portland, Ore., to be close to their family.
She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Portland, Ore., at the time of her death.
Surviving to mourn her death are her sons, Harry Nelsen, of Portland, Ted Nelsen, of Garibaldi, Ore., and Raymond Nelsen, of Gresham, Ore.; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Arno and her three sons John, Allan and Marvin Nelsen preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1440 S.E. 182nd Ave., Portland, Ore., on Sunday, June 26, at 2 p.m.
